Interior Done, Exterior Almost Done, Ready to Drive!
Lots of progress. By the end of December we basically had the interior done, including seat installation:
We had ordered red beading to put between the fenders and the body, it's shade of red was not a good match for the bright red paint so Eric decided to go with black beading instead:
After finally getting the black beading in, things started to go pretty fast. Ray's been gone, so Vince has been on his own. And many of these tasks are things Vince has done at least once before.
Here's the back half of the car completed:
Vince then flipped the car around to concentrate on the front of the car. It's basically done. All lights installed, although turn signals don't work.
No major challenges in getting all the bodywork to fit, just the usual wrestling to get things to line up, so far so good.
Resolved our third engine related issue. We'd already found double O rings on the oil filter (leaked bad) plus a leaking bolt on the water pump (finally resolved with Marine Goop as a sealer). But the oil pressure has always seemed low, maxes out at 40psi.
After some internet research, turns out this is the third error made on the engine. The oil line feeding oil to the head was installed upside down, such that the oil pressure gauge measured the pressure at the upper end, ie the head. Here's how it used to look:
The flexible line attached to that banjo fitting. Now the flexible line attaches at the other end:
And the oil pressure jumps up to about 75 psi at start, was running over 60 psi at cold idle in this picture:
So nothing was wrong with the engine, it was just delivering the wrong reading to the gauge.
